Smart Initiative: UP Police Launches App for Quick Criminal Tracking
Uttar Pradesh Police in Ghaziabad launched an app on the 1st of May, 2016 which will allow the police officials to access complete details of a criminal using a simple voice command. These initiatives have been pouring in because of our digitally sound chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav. He is relentlessly trying to keep everyone up to date and at the same time ensuring their safety. The app will be used to track the city’s auto rickshaws with the help of a unique code assigned, both online and offline.
This project was launched by Akhilesh Yadav in Meerut as a pilot project and after its immense success is being implemented in the rest of the state, starting from Ghaziabad, Noida, and subsequently moving to the other districts. The police will be able to get complete details and records about a criminal’s past just by calling out his name and address. It can be customized to store records of specific criminals, depending on requirement and nature of work, by availing data from dossiers of the District Crime Records Bureau and the jails. The data can be accessed, along with the photograph of a criminal, by voice command. Once fed into the app, the data will be stored in an online server in Ghaziabad.
This quick app will help the Uttar Pradesh Police during field jobs like raids or checking vehicles on the road. It can also be used to track autos. The senior police officer, meanwhile, said that another app Suraksha will be launched this month and can be used by people to register their grievances or alert police for help. A WhatsApp number will also be launched soon for people to lodge complaints. A grievance filed will not be deleted till it is resolved.
The Uttar Pradesh Police are employing the technology to keep the people safe and we can give credit for this, to our Digital CM!
