mSehat, The Largest Mobile Pilot Project Launched in UP

Akhilesh Yadav came into power in 2012 as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and paid

special attention to the infant mortality rate. To counter this, he immediately took to

technology and got an app designed which would help in improving it. The mSehat app

facilitates remote access and enrolment forms for expecting ladies which can be monitored

by health superintendents to maintain their health records along with their child’s in real

time.

“It would help in registration, tracking, counselling, reporting, screening and referral of the

beneficiaries. A new beginning is being made in the health services in Uttar Pradesh with the

launch of this project. Equipping frontline workers of the health department like ASHA

workers, auxiliary nurse midwives, and medical officers with latest technique would improve

their proficiency” Yadav said, adding that effective monitoring of steps to bring down

mother-child death rate could be done through the app.
